Great news: Ireland will have the largest inverted wooden rollercoaster in Europe

We've always said that Disneyland has nothing on Tayto Park

We’ve always said that Disneyland has nothing on Tayto Park

Now that the first pay day of 2015 has arrived, we’re fairly certain that if you’re anyway like JOE then you’ll already be looking to spend some of that money on your summer holiday.

In our opinion, who needs beautiful scenery, exotic locations or a new cultural experience when you can have gigantic rollercoasters?

Good news then for all you adrenalin junkies because you don’t have to to travel abroad to Florida, Blackpool or any other place that we all envy anymore.

Tayto Park in Meath will soon be the home of Europe’s largest inverted rollercoaster and we’re going to be the first in line. We’ll probably be pushing little kids out of the way though.

The ride will reach heights of 32.05 metres before plummeting in a stomach churning drop zone of 29 metres.

It’s probably not a good idea then to have a few packets of Cheese & Onion before going on it.

Apparently the ride will be steeped in Irish mythology, how that works we have no idea, and will also be the only one of its kind in Europe.

The construction requires 800,000 kgs of yellow pine wood, 100 tonnes of steel, 700,000 nails and bolts and 70 engineers and builders to put it all together before its opening this summer.

All Meath needs now is weather like Florida and we’re all laughing… or screaming. This depends on whether or not you get easily scared on rollercoasters.
