Here’s what the Bank Holiday weekend weather forecast looks like

Paul Moore

The three-day weekend is looking really well.

Right now, we reckon that every Irish person is staring at the clock and wishing that it was moving faster. Not only is this a Bank Holiday weekend, but it’s also Halloween aka the best excuse for costumes, craic and sweets.

Oh yeah, we can’t forget the obligatory Treehouse of Horror TV binge.

Here’s what the weather is shaping up to be, according to the good people at Met Éireann.

Today doesn’t have any ghoulish frights in store because sunny spells are expected before the majority of areas become cloudy and dry, although there are some pockets of drizzle and fog around.  Highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees with light to moderate southwest breezes.

Tonight is going to be a mild one with patches of rain, drizzle and fog (no word yet if a horde of murderous pirates are included in this fog) as temperatures will remain above the 9-10 degrees mark.

Looking ahead to Saturday, it’s going to be a mild autumn day with temperatures in the low to mid-teens. Overall, there’s quite a lot of cloud about although sunny spells are expected. Patchy drizzle shouldn’t detract from your weekend fun.

Weather-wise, the long weekend is shaping up to be a very good one because daytime temperatures are expected to remain in the teens and they won’t drop below 10 degrees. The same conditions apply for Saturday night, although there might be the odd patch of drizzle and fog.

As for Sunday, it’s going to be dry over Leinster, east Ulster and east Munster, and while there will be some sunny spells overall, it’s expected to be another cloudy day with some patchy rain or drizzle possible.

Further west, fronts will move in from the Atlantic bringing scattered outbreaks of rain. There’s  a risk of some heavy local showers over parts of the southwest, west and northwest.

Halloween won’t see frightful weather conditions though because a mild and dry day is being predicted. While there may be a few sunny spells overall, it looks like it will be another cloudy and dry day. The odd patch of rain, drizzle and fog is possible, but overall, things are looking very well for the Bank Holiday.

Overall, the predominant weather conditions are shaping up to be sunshine, cloud and light drizzle. Not exactly a horror story, is it?
