Ireland cracks the top 10 most reputable countries in the world

Carl Kinsella

We imagine that this report concluded before the blinder played by the Irish fans at Euro 2016.

The Country RepTrak report conducted by the Reputation Institute has ranked Ireland as the ninth most reputable country in the world. Ireland is one of only 14 countries in the report whose reputation is described as ‘Strong’. No country has an ‘Excellent’ reputation.

The United Kingdom is four spots behind Ireland – though we can imagine their international reputation has taken something of a hit in the last week…

The reputation of each country is determined by the results of a questionnaire put to 58,000 people across several countries including Canada, France, Germany, Japan, UK and the USA on themes such as trust and good feeling.

The report claims that having a good reputation is important for increasing exports, better diplomacy, increasing foreign direct investment and importing foreign talent.

According to the report, Sweden has the best reputation on earth, followed by Canada, with Switzerland in third place.
