PIC: There were some very ominous-looking clouds spotted over Kinsale yesterday

Conor Heneghan

Apocalypse now, boy.

If you were in or around Cork yesterday, you probably got a taste of weather at its most Irish as practically every season made its presence felt in the Rebel County.

Hailstorms caused havoc on the roads around Cork city, leading to a 14-car collision at one point, while further south, the clouds gave an indication of just how unpredictable the weather was.

JOE reader Aoibhinn O’Riordan Fuchs and her husband Michael spotted one cloud in Kinsale that gave the impression that a nuclear bomb had just gone off in the picturesque town.

The weather may have been pleasant from the vantage point of the photographer but we can only imagine what it was like to be caught up in the middle of it.

With weather forecasts like this one recently, should we really be surprised?
