Pic: Would you buy what must be the narrowest house in Cork for €75,000?

We wouldn’t fancy trying to squeeze a mattress through this front door.

We wouldn’t fancy trying to squeeze a mattress through this front door.

A few weeks back, eyebrows were raised when a house that’s only seven-foot wide went on sale in London for the eye-watering price of £235,000 but it turns out there’s a place in Cork that would give it a run for its money.

This one-bed terraced house just off Barrack Street in Cork City Centre has been on the market on DAFT for the best part of three months, but only came to our attention today thanks to JOE reader Patrick Dunphy. We can only assume that Patrick is not the person selling the house and that he didn’t send it our way as a crafty way of alerting more people to its existence and the fact that it’s for sale.

For 75,000 of their hard-earned euros, potential buyers would get their hands on a property that’s 46 foot long and a mere eight feet wide (34 metres squared in total), but is situated in a central location only minutes from UCC and Cork city centre.

In fairness, it is being sold as a project for builders who might redevelop it into something a little bit more homely and attractive because with all due respect, it ain’t much to look at right now.

Anyway, if you’re interested, you can check the ad out for yourself here. Who knows, it could turn out to be a great place to host parties. We can see them now…

Hat-tip to Patrick Dunphy for sending this one our way
