Poet John Montague has passed away in France at the age of 87.
Montague had been recovering from a surgery at Clinique Parc Impérial in Nice when he came down with a fever and had to be put on a respiratory machine.
Montague will be buried in Garvaghy, Co. Tyrone where he was raised. The poet Theo Dorgan will be organising a memorial service in Dublin, according to the Irish Times.
Tributes have poured in for the beloved poet across social media.
Always adored the poetry of John Montague. He may be gone but the words remain. RIP.
