Two arrests made after ‘serious assault’ of Donegal man after break-in

Two men in the Derry area were arrested over the incident.

Two men have been arrested for the ‘serious assault’ of a Donegal man following a break-in.

PSNI officers arrested two men in the Derry area in relation to the incident.

Currently, PSNI’s serious Crime Branch detectives are assisting the Gardaí over the incident as the two men remain in police custody.

In a statement, PSNI said: “Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Serious Crime Branch who are assisting colleagues in An Garda Síochána with the investigation into the serious assault of a man in his 20s in Lifford, County Donegal have arrested two men in the Derry/Londonderry area.

“They are currently in police custody at this time.”

Gardaí continue to investigate the serious assault at a home in Lifford, Donegal.

Two men were seriously assaulted at the house earlier Monday morning, January 20.

A man in his 20s was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital Belfast and was treated for serious injuries.

A second man in his 60s, was brought to Letterkenny University Hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-serious injuries.

A garda spokesperson commented: “Gardaí are investigating an incident which occurred in Lifford, Co. Donegal, this morning, Monday, 20 January 2025.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.

They ask that anyone with camera footage, including dash-cam, from Coneyburrow Road between 10am and 11am, to make this footage available to Gardaí.
