VIDEO: Look at how snowy it was on the Dublin Mountains this morning

Conor Heneghan

Ireland’s very own Winter Wonderland.

Snow fell in many parts of Ireland last night as the cold snap began to take hold, with the east of the country getting plenty of the white stuff yesterday evening and overnight.

The video below was recorded in the Dublin Mountains at approximately 11am this morning and you can see a few inches gathered alongside a road that doesn’t look particularly safe to drive on.

The footage was sent on by JOE reader John Kohrs, who told us that he recorded it in Ticknock, about five minutes up the road from Johnnie Fox’s pub.

“It’s amazing up there. A blanket of snow. It looks deadly,” John told us, although motorists in the area, particularly those near the Sally Gap, have been warned to take extreme care due to hazardous conditions caused by the snow and cold temperatures.

Met Eireann have forecast that the temperature will drop to below freezing once again tonight, with wintry showers set to return during the coming week, particularly on higher ground.

Cheers to John Kohrs for sending this our way. If you have something you would like to share with us, send it to our WhatsApp number 087-4001102, editorial@JOE.ie or hit us up on Facebook or Twitter.
