Temperatures in certain parts of the country reached as low as -3 overnight and it’s stay freezing throughout the next week.
Wintry showers will continue to affect the west and north and could spread countrywide over the coming days.
“The weather is set to stay cold, not only for the weekend, but most of next week as well, with low daytime temperatures below freezing at night,” said Met Éireann forecaster John Eagleton.
