Brrrr!
Right now, every Irish person knows that we’re currently dealing with three different weather stages. 1) Rain, 2) cold and 3) indoors (I’m counting that as one) but the nice people at Met Éireann have told us what to expect over the coming few days.
It’s going to be very cold this morning with frost and icy patches in some places but showers of sleet or snow are also expected in west Munster, Connacht, Ulster and north Leinster.
Snow is expected to reach levels of 4 and 8 cm in these areas so be careful on the roads. An orange snow-ice warning will remain in effect for Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo until midday today while Longford, Cavan, Monaghan, Galway and Roscommon have been issued with a yellow snow-ice warning.

They’ll become more isolated later, but will persist in the north, falling as rain or sleet this afternoon. Tonight’s going to be dry apart from some patchy rain in the southwest. Stay warm though because it’s expected to be very cold with patches of freezing fog developing.
As always, be safe on the roads because a severe frost and icy stretches on roads are expected with lowest temperatures of -5 to +2 degrees, coldest in the south midlands and least cold in the southwest.
Rain and cold eh, they must have Sherlcok Holmes on the case.

Regarding Saturday’s forecast, the good news is that it’s going to be dry with sunny spells. The bad news is that there’s going to patches of fog and ice on roads so use caution. A few showers in north and east Ulster are expected also with a sharp frost developing in many areas with icy stretches on roads.
Sunday will start off dry with frost gradually clearing and sunny spells appearing for a time. If you’re heading out then bring a brolly with you because rain will develop in the southwest by noon and will spread northeastwards through the afternoon and evening. The rain is expected to continue for much of the night and will become quite heavy at times.
Right, so weekend plans then. Anyone for some TV and tea?
