Unfortunately, that’s where the good news ends.
There will be a hazy start across the country as the Leaving Cert gets underway, but sunshine is expected to break through and give us the hottest day of the year so far.
Temperatures of 26 degrees are expected in certain parts of the country, while Wednesday night will be another humid one – highest temperatures of 14 degrees could make it an uncomfortable night’s sleep.
Thursday will start off sunny but rain is expected to come in later in the day, signalling the start of an unpredictable spell of weather.
Willemien Phelan of Met Eireann said: “It is mostly dry Wednesday and Thursday but they will be the last two days of the warm spell.
“A front is coming from the Atlantic for Thursday and Friday with Friday being a wet day and unsettled weather continuing from then.”
Temperatures will also fall back over the weekend, and the unsettled weather is expected to continue into next week.
