The forecast for the rest of the week does not make for pleasant reading

Carl Kinsella

As you read this, you might be huddled on a bus, wrapped up in five layers — or worse yet, waiting for a bus quickly feeling your hands go numb.

It’s cold out there. Very, very cold. Things are so frosty that it looks as though the White Walkers are approaching.

Sadly, it doesn’t look like the weather will change for the better any time soon. Met Éireann has forecast that Monday night will see “widespread severe frost and temperatures falling to between +1 and -3 degrees.”

While there is no frost expected on Tuesday, Met Éireann has further predicted severe frost in their nationwide forecast for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Temperatures will continue to be painfully cold, reaching highs (if you can call them that) of between 4 and 8 degrees throughout the week.

Temperatures will return to “freezing” repeatedly throughout the week.

A national frost warning remains in effect until at least 10am on Monday.
