Cold snap coming: Temperatures across the country to drop as low as -3 degrees this evening

The news comes as up to 60,000 homes remain without power.

Met Eireann have announced that temperatures will drop as low as -3 in some parts of the country tonight, with many people still without power after the recent storms.

Tonight will be dry, with severe frost and ice forming on untreated roads.

ESB Networks report that many faults won’t be fixed this weekend, with up to 60,000 homes still without power and approximately 40,000 faults reported.

While forecasters insist that most of the high winds across the country have eased, there remains a risk of spot flooding in places due to continued rainfall.

“It will be cold and frosty tonight with icy patches and very little wind,” reported Met Eireann’s Pat Clarke.
