Met Eireann confirms that parts of Ireland will enjoy another spell of glorious sunshine this week

Paul Moore

Temperatures will be in the high teens in some areas.

Much like any Irish weather update, things are going to get worse before they get better but on a more positive note, the weekend is shaping up to be very nice indeed.

Ok, according to the nice people at Met Éireann, Monday to Wednesday is going to be eclectic on the weather front but things are going to pick up from Thursday on.

Here’s what they reckon is in store for Monday. “Cold and clear this morning with a widespread ground frost and some icy patches.  The day ahead will be generally dry and sunny but some local showers will develop later.

They add: “Highest temperatures ranging 9 to 13 degrees in light breezes.Cold again for most of tonight with the frost returning and minimum air temperatures zero to 4 degrees.  It will become milder in the west and southwest by morning as outbreaks of rain and freshening southerly winds move in from the Atlantic.”

Moving on to Tuesday now and the frosty conditions are set to stay but things are expected to pick up. “Cold and frosty at first for many but the milder weather in the west with outbreaks of rain will spread quickly eastwards during the morning along with fresh southerly winds. During the afternoon the rain will gradually clear away eastwards, the winds will veer westerly and sunny spells will develop. Typical temperatures tomorrow 10 to 13 degrees.”

As for Wednesday, the weather is expected to be “cool, blustery with a mixture of sunny spells and passing heavy showers of rain and hail. Highest temperatures 9 to 12 degrees in fresh and gusty westerly winds.”

Ok, now for the good news because “a warm front will move up over Ireland on Thursday bringing in milder weather for the rest of the week and over the weekend.” Happy days.

The forecast adds that the best weather will be “in the east of the country and to the lee of high ground. Temperatures will in the mid-teens, and into the high teens in sunny areas.”

Ok, we know that it’s only the start of the week but at least the weekend is shaping up to be decent. Beer garden?
