Ireland’s very own winter wonderland in the west.
Such has been the strange weather extremes Ireland has been experiencing in recent months that we wouldn’t be surprised if an unseasonal heatwave arrives before the end of the month.
This morning, however, the west of the country was gripped by the type of conditions that you’d expect at this time of year, with heavy snow falling in parts of Mayo and Roscommon.
Combined with low temperatures, the snow made for dangerous conditions on the roads, but they also made for a quite beautiful winter spectacle, as is evident in the pictures below.
