Start planning for the beer garden – Friday will be the hottest day of the year so far

Tomorrow is going to be the hottest day of the year so far.

Tony Cuddihy

Tomorrow is going to be the hottest day of the year so far.

Temperatures in parts of Ireland will hit 28 degrees on Friday, with the day expected to be sunnier than today and very little cloud cover.

At the moment in parts of the country the temperature is 27 degrees, the same as Rome and just a degree or two cooler than both London and Paris.

What does this all mean, in real-life terms?

You dare not dry clothes inside the house, wasting all that glorious sunshine and fresh air smell.

You will have a call from your mam declaring it, “a bit TOO hot and, you know me, I usually love the sun.”

Pubs will be empty. Outside the pubs will be like a cattle-mart.

Cider.

Absolutely nobody will mention the weather on Twitter. Nobody.

Also, nobody will post a picture of Stephen’s Green in the sun (when they should be in work) to Facebook.

You won’t sleep.
