Appparently Met Eireann will only call it a heatwave if we have five or more days in a row where the temperature is over 25 degrees.

The outlook for the weekend is not great. Dry, with periods of bright or hazy sunshine for much of Friday and temperatures 17 to 22 C. Not bad you say. But wait.
Saturday will have sunny spells and isolated showers, most of which will occur in the south and west of the country.
Temperatures will be around normal for early July, with the warmest areas being the east and north.
Showers will become more frequent and locally heavy in southern and western coastal counties on Saturday night but elsewhere will stay mainly dry.
Showers will soon become more widespread on Sunday morning and will be heavy in places.
It will become mainly dry for a time early on Sunday night but rain soon reaching southern counties will spread north to affect most places overnight.
