A number of Irish counties have been issued Status Yellow Thunderstorm warnings and Status Yellow Rain warnings for Thursday evening’s weather.
Met Éireann issued a thunderstorm warning for Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Monaghan, Clare, Cork, Limerick, Tipperary, Waterford, Leitrim and Roscommon, with “heavy downpours with thunderstorms and hail” expected.
Spot flooding, hazardous road conditions and poor visibility are also possible for those affected.
The weather warning is valid from 3pm until 8pm on Thursday night.
There is also a Status Yellow Rain warning in place for Dublin, Wexford and Wicklow, from 6pm on Thursday until midnight.
Spot flooding, poor visibility and travel delays are expected as potential hazards.
Multiple weather warnings issued for Ireland
Road users for all 21 counties affected by the weather warnings are advised to be wary of hazardous travelling conditions and poor visibility.
Met Éireann’s forecast for tonight reads: “Outbreaks of heavy and thundery rain will affect parts of Leinster and Munster, but it will be mainly dry elsewhere with a mix of cloud and clear spells.
“A few mist and fog patches will form also. Lowest temperatures 9 to 12 degrees.
“Moderate northerly winds will be freshen overnight near Atlantic coasts.”

For Friday’s weather, it will be cloudy and misty in the East and South with patchy rain and drizzle, but drier elsewhere with sunny spells.
Highest temperatures will reach between 14 to 20 degrees, with moderate Northeasterly winds.
Things are fortunately looking much better for the weekend, with both Saturday and Sunday expected to stay mainly dry and warm.
